Michael Chiles— who lives in Toledo, Ohio– developed a passion for the Great Danes during his senior year in high school when he acquired his first Great Dane. Michael is a professional handler and has bred and co-bred, owned and co-owned and handled numerous Champions under his prefix Michaeldane, over the past many years. Some of these include BIS BISS CH Longo Sweettalk V Michaeldane, CH Dagon Clorox N’Co, CH Michaeldane Mastercharge, CH Michaeldane Diana-Link Dagon, and CH Michaeldane Touch of Class. Michael also handled CH Meadowood’s Milton of Svevo to multiple BIS and BISS awards.

Jodie Keim—who lives in Tucson, Arizona—started JB Danes with her husband Bud, and purchased their first show prospect in 1988 from Michael Chiles. Previously, Jodie and Bud had a very successful Paint horse operation, exhibiting and breeding, for 15 years. In 1981, they got their first Harlequin Great Dane and fell in love with the breed and slowly acquired more… In 1996, they decided to phase out their Paints and “went to the dogs”.

Michaeldane / Jaybee Danes
Michael Chiles with Jodie and Bud Keim developed a mutual feeling about breeding and exhibiting Great Danes. This led to joining together in a partnership as MICHAELDANE/JAYBEE DANES for the breeding and exhibiting of Great Danes, specializing in HARLEQUINS. It has been a great relationship and has proven successful for more than 25 years!
MICHAELDANE/JAYBEE DANES won Winners Bitch at the Great Dane Club of California Specialty three years straight, ’97, ’98 and ’99, with Crystal, Secret and Gracie retiring the Challenge trophies. We have numerous offspring in Japan, Indonesia, Mexico, Argentina, Puerto Rico and from coast to coast in the United States, with many, many champions.
“We sadly add to our bio that Bud Keim passed away June 26, 2004. He is greatly missed by Jodie and Mike and all his Great Dane friends. Jodie and Mike are carrying on the Michaeldane/Jaybee tradition as Bud would have wished.”
